Doctor Today
Well, we have his staples out appointment today, and to probably check his White Blood Count. I shall try to post and let everyone know.
So far, so good. He isn't doing much. Laying in bed watching movies is about all, but that is what the Dr told him he could do, that and about nothing else.
I have gotten a few more boxes packed and taken into town. The house doesn't looked packed yet, just a few things missing is all. Sigh.
Baby and Nursey are looking for apt closer to where we will be, within a 1/2 hour drive or so. That will be nice as Nursey has pretty much decided to leave 3/4 Pint with us for the next school year.
Other Nursey had an appendicitis attack and had emergency surgery. She went HOME that same night about 4 hours after the surgery. Part of it is that she is a nurse, married to a nurse, and part of it is that they do it now with laproscopic surgery, not a huge incision in your abdomen like I had 40 years ago. What a wonderful world we live in now.
Except for the stupid gas prices. I am starting to write Senators and Congresspeople. I have become convinced that as long as we are dependent on foreign oil, we are at the mercy of OPEC and other nations political games.
It's time to drill on U.S. soil. We have the oil, we have lots and lots of oil. We just haven't been allowed to drill it. It's time. The environmentalists are just going to have to get over it. All the alternative energy sources in the world are not going to help when for some things, we need liquid fuel. Granted, electric cars help, but you still need to generate the electricity. People are just going to have to realize we will have two choices. Put up with Nuclear plants to generate electricity, and put up with oil drilling, or pay 12/gallon at the pumps in a few years. Me? I'll take the drilling and the nuke plants.
Additionally, I think that washington should go balls to the wall on making hydrogen fuel cell technology, which DOES already exist, affordable. If washington gets behind it, we can do without gasoline and oil for our cars at least.
Thats pretty much it. School is out for summer next Thursday. Groan.

I think as long as we are dependent on Big Oil Companies, it will always be high!!! They made 13 BILLION in over a month...they not complaining!!! They are making money...we are paying for their obscene profits!!!

I haven't checked your figures, but will assume they are correct. However, that being said (she said...) how much of that alleged 13 Billion went to costs? It is easy to say someone 'made' 13 billion, but having run two multi million dollar companies, i do know that usually when someone says...well you MADE 2 million dollars last year, they are referring to the Gross profit...which does not take into consideration any of the costs associated. Yes, the company MADE 2 million last year, but it TOOK 1.8 million in costs to make the 2 million and so, the PROFIT was only 200,000.
typically, the figures seen in the media not reflected correctly at all. they are spun to the benefit of whomever is financing the broadcast, whether news or not news.

If my news source the other night is right ~ exxon made 40 billion profit in the first quarter, or maybe a month, but their comeback was "we put it back into research/work" ~ but "40 BILLION" ~ and he had the 'shit-eating grin on his face' as he said it and 'shrugged his shoulders' ~ I almost puked!

I agree something needs to be done, although if they start putting up nuclear plants and building pipelines and refineries all over the place, I am SO moving my future children and husband out of America and to some island off the coast of Samoa or something where we can live in peace, and simply.
Reasons for leaving? Even rats jump off a burning/sinking ship.

at that point LOL, i would be on the next island over. even I am only for PERMIT with LIMITS....but I do think we need to drill more on us soil, and offshore as well. and I dont' think we need pipelines either, trucks are doing just fine in my book and if they could AFFORD the fuel to run the trucks..
on a good note, I believe it is GM is slated to release the FIRST EVER (fucking YEAH!!_) hydrogen powered car (using h20 for fuel) in 2013. Glenn beck drove the prototype the other day. I cannot WAIT. and the only emission is oxygen. It's about f;ing time.

The oil companies are no different than any otber business- they want to sell a product and make as much money as possible. So, they have a successful product- why should my jealousy be reason for their punishment? The prices are not high because the oil companies are mean. If anything, they are neither moral than immoral. Here's why oil prices are so high, in my opinion- a particular American political party is hell-bent upon blocking the expansion of oil production in the U.S. My solution would include drilling in Anwar, drilling along both coasts, building lots of new refineries, and lots of new nuclear plants. It makes a lot more sense than class warfare against "big oil".

total agreement there. Also, the 'supply and demand' may again work to our benefit. OPEC is not the only oil producing conglomerate in the world. There are many third world countries who are NOT part of OPEC, and while they ARE run by despots, those despots are GREEDY. watch for one hell of a lot of south american oil to be hitting the market soon, driving down the prices. Those guys want a piece of the $135 a barrel oil. And, as soon as they jump into the game, the price will come down.

"All the alternative energy sources in the world are not going to help when for some things, we need liquid fuel."
Um, with all due respect, this is just hogwash, at least if you're thinking that the only liquid fuel that will do is gasoline. There's only one reason this is believed by so many people, and that reason is because it's been "drilled" into our heads by the oil companies. Here's the problem. IF we decide to open lots of new wells, ALL we do is put off the inevitable. Why not handle the situation once and for all? Remember, there are thousands of wells in the country already drilled that aren't being used. Why? The main reason is because is because they're not own by the big oil companies who REFUSE to buy from people and companies they don't control.

What color is the sky in your world? Yipes. Well, maybe you're right. They're not mean, but neither are they people and as such, they have no conscience.
